Welcome
I deeply respect your willingness and courage to seek therapy. Therapy is a rewarding process that can lead to incredible growth. In therapy you have an opportunity to look within to understand yourself at a deeper level, gain more clarity and confidence, and make changes in areas where you feel stuck or unhappy. Therapy can also provide a validating and supportive space during difficult times.
Caring for your emotional well-being is an important investment you can make in your life. My hope is that our work together will bring you both insights and opportunities for new ways of being and relating.
My Style and Approach to Therapy
My therapeutic style is warm, validating, and interactive. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where you can get in touch with your most intimate self and openly explore your feelings, thoughts, struggles, fears, desires and hopes.
I'm trained in a number of different modalities and select interventions based on your unique needs and what will help you the most in every session. Primarily, I work from a Psychodynamic perspective- I help my clients better understand the underlying causes of their difficulties and their patterns of behavior, instead of focusing solely on symptom reduction.
In addition, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness approaches in my practice. CBT helps identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns and limiting core beliefs that lead to depression and anxiety; mindfulness is an empirically supported practice for reducing anxiety.
My multicultural background along with my professional training and experiences give me a unique insight, desire, and opportunity to pay special attention to the issues of diversity in working with clients.
